HOUSTON, TX (March 4, 2025) — FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Orange County and the City of Mebane held a special groundbreaking ceremony to officially welcome Griffin Partners to the Buckhorn Economic Development District. The event marked the beginning of construction for two industrial buildings totaling more than 196,000 square feet on a 25.62-acre tract adjacent to the I-40/I-85 corridor.
Griffin Partners announced that this development marks its first industrial project in North Carolina, further expanding its investment footprint in the state. The event highlighted the critical role of infrastructure investments in fostering regional growth and job creation. “I just want to say a big thank you for everyone here coming out today,” said Travis Covington, President of Development for Griffin Partners, in kicking off groundbreaking ceremony. “It means a lot. We’re excited to be in Mebane and Orange County and look forward to getting this development kicked off.”
“We’re really excited about this,” added Kevin Ellis, Vice President of Development with Griffin Partners. “This is our first industrial development in the state of North Carolina. We’ve made about $160 million worth of investments in North Carolina over the (last) 10 years, and that’s because it’s a great place. It’s beautiful, it’s got good people, good businesses, and great cities and counties. And Mebane and Orange County are perfect examples of that.”
The two shallow-bay industrial buildings will provide logistical and technical support to future industrial partners in the area. Located within the Mebane city limits in western Orange County, the project will feature state-of-the-art designs and landscaping, ensuring a high-quality, modern industrial space. “We really pride ourselves on building high-quality projects,” Ellis explained. “This industrial property will have state-of-the-art features—clear heights, power truck courts, but also great architectural designs and landscaping, thanks to our third parties. We are excited to deliver buildings that we believe are needed in the market and have a place for local and regional businesses to expand and grow economically in the area.”
With its strategic location and strong connectivity to major transportation routes, Creekside Logistics I and II are expected to generate significant interest from businesses seeking high-quality industrial space.
